Oriental Fan Layout - By Annie Hafermann

Oriental Fan Class

By Ann(i)e Hafermann

Supplies: quilt pattern, straight edge, needle, embroidery floss, paper piercer, paper trimmer, adhesive, precision point scissors

Right click on the pattern below and save the image to your computer. Open in your graphics programme and print selecting the fit to page option to give you an A4 sized template to work with.

Instructions:

1.) Cut the larger piece of your pattern on the BROKEN line

2.) Fold pattern in half LONG way.  Cut the wide end at a 45 degree angle

3.) Cut the smaller piece of your pattern on the SOLID line

4.) Trace the large piece of your pattern on the back of 6 pieces of patterned paper

5.) Cut out and ink edges

6.) Trace small piece of pattern onto 7Gypsie letter sticker strips (or the back of one piece of patterned paper)

7.) Cut out and ink edges

8.) Adhere the rounded piece to one of the corners of your 12X12 cardstock

9.) Arrange and adhere your longer, pointed pieces so the straight edge of the piece sits just under the rounded edge of your small piece (two of your pieces will overhang the edge of your 12X12  cardstock, trim after all pieces are adhered)

10.) Determine where your photo (and matte if applicable) will sit on your layout.  Using pencil, lightly trace the photo placement, but do not adhere photo.

11.) Using a sewing machine, hand stitches, rubons, or a pen create the stitching around each piece.

12.) Adhere photo and title.  Add a few decorative stitches if desired

13.) Add word stickers as desired.
